They serve completely different purposes.
Diploma
A diploma is the ceremonial certificate proving you earned a degree. It shows your name, the degree title and the graduation date.
Transcript
A transcript is the academic record. It lists every course, credits, grades and your grade point average.
When you need each
- Framing or display: usually the diploma.
- Applications, transfers or credential evaluation: usually the transcript.
- Not sure? Request both; many clients order the pair together.
