The University of Notre Dame du Lac stands as one of the most recognizable and distinctive institutions of higher learning in the United States. University of Notre Dame du Lar diploma, University of Notre Dame du Lar degree, University of Notre Dame du Lar certificate. Founded in 1842 by Rev. Edward Sorin, C.S.C., and the Congregation of Holy Cross, Notre Dame has grown from a modest mission school in the Indiana wilderness into a preeminent global Catholic research university.

Located adjacent to South Bend, Indiana, approximately 90 miles east of Chicago, the university occupies 1,250 acres containing two lakes and 143 buildings. Its iconic Golden Dome, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, and the famed "Touchdown Jesus" mural have become symbols of an institution that uniquely bridges faith and reason, tradition and innovation.

Notre Dame's origin story is one of audacious faith. On a bitterly cold November afternoon in 1842, a 28-year-old French priest named Edward Sorin arrived with seven companions at 524 snow-covered acres given to them by the bishop of Vincennes. Sorin, unable to distinguish between two lakes blanketed in snow, named the fledgling school "L'Université de Notre Dame du Lac" — The University of Our Lady of the Lake. With just $310 and a zealot's dream, he built an administration building before he had students or food to feed them, writing to his superior in France that "this college cannot fail to succeed" and would become "one of the most powerful means for doing good in this country".

That founding conviction — that Notre Dame would be a force for good — remains the guiding principle of the university nearly two centuries later.

The Indiana legislature officially chartered the university on January 15, 1844, and the institution has since weathered fires, epidemics, and wars while steadily expanding its mission. #Get a University of Notre Dame du Lar degree. #Get a University of Notre Dame du Lar certificate online.

With 1,526 instructional faculty and a 9:1 student-to-faculty ratio, the university maintains a strong commitment to intimate classroom instruction, with nearly 60 percent of classes enrolling fewer than 20 students.
